Nickeled is an existentialist feature length observational documentary where the visuals and audios meditate on a rapidly changing world for the native boat taxi drivers that go between land and sea to bring supplies to one of the largest nickel production mines in the world in Morowali, Indonesia.

Azlin is a native of coastal Morowali, once an isolated fishing and agrarian coastal community that has now been swallowed by one of the largest nickel extraction and refining plants in the world, part of China's Maritime Silk Road Initiative. While he and his friends work as boat taxi drivers to connect the industrial boats and coal barges to the processing plants on the mainland, he and his wife debate the future of their children's safety and consider what the future holds for them.
